Dear GSU Community,

Governor McMaster has announced that, due to the Coronavirus pandem-
ic, all public schools in South Carolina will remain closed through the rest of
the school year. So based on these guidelines, the facilities of the German
School Upstate South Carolina will also have to remain closed.

We again would like to express our gratitude for your flexibility and your
support as we continue our virtual learning through the format our principal
and our faculty have created. Hans and his teachers are continuing their
work to perfect these new means of teaching and to keep our students cu-
rious and engaged.

Please take advantage of the two extra virtual classes the school is adding
after the school year officially ends.

Again, the GSU Board would like to thank the entire GSU Community for
their efforts, their passion and their commitment.

We will continue monitoring the Covid-19 situation in South Carolina as we
are entering the summer. We will make sure our planning for the upcoming
school year will take into account all scenarios. We will incorporate ele-
ments of flexibility for the entire GSU community to make sure, the flow of
the school year of 20/21 will be as smooth as possible.

We would also like to remind you of the upcoming Board election. Please
keep an eye out during the week of May 18 for instructions on the online
election procedure. We hope our entire community will participate. If you
are interested in serving on our board, please send your resume and a
photo to Matthias Stollberg at mstollberg@germanschoolupstate.org by
May 14 to be included among nominees.

Please stay safe and healthy!
